August 19th-30th: Barbera & Bruschetta

August 19 @ 12:00 am - August 30 @ 12:00 am

Wine & Food Pairing of the Month: Barbera & Bruschetta

August 19–30 *closed Mondays & Tuesdays* | 11:00 AM–3:30 PM

This month, we’re celebrating one of Amador County’s most deliciously underrated grapes: Barbera.

While Barbera may be most closely associated with Piedmont, Italy, it has found a natural home here in the Sierra Foothills. In fact, Barbera has been thriving in Amador County since the Gold Rush era. At Andis, we love what this variety brings to our region: vibrant acidity, generous fruit, and an approachable character that makes it an especially wonderful wine at the table.

To showcase Barbera’s talent as a food-friendly wine, we’re pairing our 2023 Barbera d’Amador with a flight of three house-made Bruschetta, each offering a different take on the classic combination of crusty bread and fresh tomatoes:

  • Classic Bruschetta: bright, fresh tomatoes and herbs
  • Balsamic Bruschetta: finished with a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a touch of sweetness and acidity
  • Burrata Bruschetta:  topped with creamy burrata for a rich, indulgent contrast

The pairing works because Barbera’s lively acidity cuts beautifully through creamy burrata, complements the natural acidity of fresh tomatoes, and balances the sweet-tart richness of balsamic glaze. Its juicy red-fruit character brings another layer to the tomatoes and herbs, while the wine’s freshness keeps every bite feeling bright and inviting.

Prefer bubbles? You can also enjoy the bruschetta flight with our “Succulento” Sparkling Rosé of Barbera. This refreshing alternative brings the same beautiful connection between Barbera’s fruit and the fresh flavors of summer.

Join us August 19–30 and discover why Barbera deserves a place at the table—and a little more attention in Amador County.
